When weather conditions arise that affect our ability to bus students to school safely, a delay or closing is necessary.
For delay/closing information, you may do any of the following:
- Check the Saint Joseph School website at www.sjsmch.org
- Tune into WHTM ABC Channel 27, WGAL NBC Channel 8, WPMT Fox Channel 43, or WHP CBS Channel 21 television
- Parents registered with the OneCall program will be notified
During the winter months, if weather conditions in the morning are such that the opening of school is questionable, parents may be notified by a telephone broadcast message. Parents can also check the school’s website, watch local TV news channels, or listen to local radio stations as early as 6:00 a.m. for information. Please do not call the school or rectory.
Saint Joseph School follows the decision of the Mechanicsburg School District on school closings, regardless of what other districts do. However, it is important to listen to the announcements of other school districts in the case of delays or early dismissals, because students must follow their own district bus schedule.
In the event of a two-hour DELAY, all bus students will be picked up two hours later than usual. Kindergarten students, both full and half day, will be dismissed with the entire student body at the regular time–2:45 p.m. Therefore, all Kindergarten students would need to pack a lunch.
Preschool students would begin their day at 10:00 a.m. and end it at 12:30 p.m. Those Preschool students who participate in the early drop-off program may arrive at school any time between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Regular arrivals may come any time between 9:50 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Should your district cancel school and Mechanicsburg Schools are in session, your child will not be penalized for absence if there is no other way of transporting him/her to Saint Joseph School. Also, whenever a bus is late due to schedule changes or other difficulties, your child will not be marked late.
